What’s it all about?
Good self tapes in a friendly and encouraging environment. That’s what you get with me. I’ve been acting for the last 20 years in the West End and have played leads for companies such as the RSC and Regent’s Park. I also have a wealth of experience on camera, having appeared in ads for pretty much every product you can see on your supermarket shelf. I know the standard that’s required, and will provide you with the environment to give the best tape you can possibly give.
What happens in a typical session?
This is how it works. You come to my home studio in Peckham, SE London. We spend an hour working on, shooting, and perfecting your scene(s). If there’s time within that hour for me to edit it together then I will, no probs. If it looks like we might be running out of time, but you only want to pay for one hour, then I can email you all the footage for you to edit. Again, no probs. The session can be flexible for what you need. Oh, and if you’re struggling to get to me, don’t worry! If you’re London based, I can get to you.

iPhone is fine, but…
If you’re an actor, or in fact anyone in this industry, you know that the most important thing in a self tape is the performance. Bottom line. And your mobile phone is fine for capturing that. However, ever heard of marginal gains? I think any edge you can give yourself in this industry has got to be a bonus, right? I’ve compared my old tapes that I used to film on my phone to the ones that I do now on my Canon M50 with Sigma 32mm lens. The difference is significant. You can see the thought process more clearly, and you generally get a much better sense of the actor. You can see the difference in the picture on the right. Also, if you have a tape that looks and sounds good, then at least you know your glorious performance will be fully seen and heard. Don’t leave ‘em guessing.
So tech helps. But it IS about the performance…
I’ve absolutely loved getting geeky experimenting with my camera, lights and sound to get the most that I can out of my home studio. But it’s acting that’s been my number one passion for most of my life, and what I’ve been doing for a living for over 20 years. So I guess I’m in a good position to help you with your performance in a constructive and supportive way. Plus, I’m a great person for you to read with- I always immerse myself in the scene to give you what you need. I can offer an outside eye, which we all need at times, but if all you want is a good actor to read with, and someone who will make your tape look great, then that’s totally fine too.
